Flukes or Flatworms
|
|
The most commonest flukes ar monogenetic, they only have one host and do not require snails or other creatures as intermiate host.
This is why they thrive in the aquarium.
They are responsible for a lot of problems and can cause death paricularly in fry.
They infect the skin and gills holding with an organ called a haptor, which has hooks.
When affected fish may dash around and rub themselves untill exhaustion sets in.
